• know the differences between inhaled and exhaled air,
• understand the mechanism of breathing,
• be able to describe the role of lung structure in gas exchange,
• understand that aerobic respiration involves a reaction in cells between oxygen and glucose, in which the glucose is broken down into carbon dioxide and water,
• know how the substances involved in respiration are transported through the bloodstream.
